Emily Jung Miller

Inspired by the spring 2025 octopus-in-residence at Hatfield Marine Science Center, a small female designated 25-02. During my 10 days as artist-in-residence at Hatfield, I enjoyed visiting with 25-02 at every opportunity. She has been nicknamed Hammock for her tendency to cradle herself in her swaying arms, anchored by strong suction cups. During our time together, she was a new arrival to the aquarium, still getting used to her new environment. Like every octopus I've met at Hatfield, she was relaxed and sociable, often sleeping in plain sight. When awake, she was especially curious and friendly with children.

Limited spaces are now open for custom painting commissions in 2026! I am accepting commissions for sizes 16x20" and larger.
