Bright autumn colors shine through the hay barn at noon on a hot day at L Bar T Ranch in Forest Grove, Oregon. For years, the ranch supported a small herd of buffalo. A colorful quilt square below the eaves of the barn roof marks it as part of the local Quilt Barn Trail. The eight-pointed star was a pattern made by women crossing the Oregon Trail. The barn itself dates from the 1920s.

This painting is included in the permanent collection of the City of Hillsboro, Oregon.
