Jacarandas at the Presidio, Santa Barbara #1023 Purchase
Purple blooms of jacaranda trees rise above the whitewashed adobe walls of the Presidio historic site in Santa Barbara, California. This view bears witness to three hundred years of global human influence on the landscape. Jacarandas in bloom have been an iconic June sight in Santa Barbara since the late 1800s, when they were first imported from South America. The Presidio was constructed by Spain in 1782, and is the last military outpost built by Spain in the "New World". Two Mexican fan palms highlight the skyline, native of the canyons of Sonora and Baja Mexico but now the most common palm tree in Southern California.
