*** Coming Soon! ***

One of 18 transparent panels installed at Hagg Lake, Oregon, illustrating the vibrancy and connections between local plants, animals, and human activity, with a focus on native species.

Facing the lake, the Fenders Blue panel features a group of larger-than-life Fender's Blue butterflies showing off their unique wing patterns, with different spots and stripes on each side of the artwork panel. The butterflies soar above a field filled with their host plant, Kincaid Lupine. Fender's Blue caterpillars rely on Kincaid Lupine to hatch and feed. These two native species have been a conservation focus for several years.

On the opposite side of the panel, facing inland, the butterflies visit native meadow plants Checkermallow, Vetch, Narrowleaf Onion, and Oregon Sunshine for nectar. Female Fenders Blue butterflies have a coppery orange color on their dorsal (back-facing) wings. All Fenders Blue butterflies have a soft gray color with small dark spots on the ventral (underside) wings.

In this description, the names of plants and animals are capitalized in accordance with Robin Wall Kimmerer's gesture of acknowledgement, respect, and reciprocity towards the many species that share our world, supporting and sustaining us in ways we may or may not know.
