Dam Overlook #1036
One of 18 transparent panels installed at Hagg Lake, Oregon, illustrating the vibrancy and connections between local plants, animals, and human activity, with a focus on native species.
Facing the lake, the Dam Overlook panel features two Ospreys soaring over the rocky shoreline near Scoggins Dam, with four Western Pond Turtles basking on a sunny boulder below.
On the opposite side of the panel, facing inland, tall trunks of Douglas Fir trees frame the view, with their distinctive "mouse-tail" cones at the top of the panel. A Ceanothus Silk Moth rests on the trunk of one tree. An Osprey glides above a small fishing boat, and two anglers stand on the banks of the lake below. At the bottom of the panel, a Steller's Jay stands between Nitrous Bonnet and Northern Red Cap mushrooms.
In this description, the names of plants and animals are capitalized in accordance with Robin Wall Kimmerer's gesture of acknowledgement, respect, and reciprocity towards the many species that share our world, supporting and sustaining us in ways we may or may not know.
